{Digital India} How to upload and use documents in my Digital Locker? DigiLocker-Digital Revolution

A digital revolution in India took place where Digilocker- Digital Locker launched by Government of India Officially. 

There is always a risk of loss or physical damage to your documents. It is important that you organise all your important papers at one place like Digital Locker. 

Government of India just launched a free digital vault service, Digilocker, which lets you store such sensitive data safely. 

‪#‎DigiLocker‬ initiative which is part of ‪#‎DigitalIndia‬ has already got
5lakh plus accounts, This will used by all Govt Departments which will need your documents like Aadhar, Passport, License ..etc 
you will not need to carry those documents in Govt offices as they will directly access it from your account.

Digital India - Power to Empower 

DigiLocker which is the national Digital Locker System launched by Govt. of India can be accessed at through http://digitallocker.gov.in

How to Register for DigiLocker? 

- here https://digitallocker.gov.in/Register.aspx

  1. Need Valid Aadhar number to Register for DigiLocker.
  2. Verify using OTP number generated as one time password on your registered mobile contact number.  
  3. Viola! You Sucessufully Sign up to Digilocker.

How to upload Documents in my Digital Locker? 

Upload documents facility is available under ‘My Certificates’ section.
  1. You need to first select a document type (SSC Certificate, HSC Certificate, PAN card, Voter ID card, etc.) from a drop down list.
  2. Provide a name for the document
  3. Based on the document type selected, you need to fill in the other details relevant to the document.
  4. Choose the file from your local machine to be uploaded to digital locker. Each file to be uploaded should not be more than 1MB in size and only pdf, jpg, jpeg, png, bmp and gif file types are allowed
  5. Provide Description of the document (max 50 characters)
  6. Click ‘Upload’ button. 

On successful upload, the document will be listed under ‘Uploaded Documents’
subsection of your Digital Locker

Drawback of Digilocker is it doesn't let you compartmentalize documents. The private digital locker services lets you create folders and categories too make browsing with panel easy.
However, cyber laws and jurisdiction remains area of concerns for Digital Locker System.
